Weather Alert! IMD Issues Thundersquall & Heavy Rain Alert over These Parts of India for Next 4-5 days
Due to establishment of East-West trough/Wind Convergence along Indo-Gangetic Plains and accompanied moisture incursion from both Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in lower levels, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during next 2 days with peak activity over Odisha, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal today, says the weather report in its morning bulletin.

Isolated Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorm/Thundersquall likely over East & Northeast India
Hailstorms are also very likely over Odisha, Jharkhand and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during this period. Scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers also very likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and plains of North India (mainly over Punjab,Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh) during next 48 hours. Isolated hailstorms and gusty winds are also likely over the region during this period.
Heavy Rainfall likely over South India during next 4-5 days
Under the influence of Wind Discontinuity across Peninsular India, fairly widespread rainfall/thundershower activity along with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 4-5 days. Rainfall activity likely to continue over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal for subsequent 4 days. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds & heavy rainfall are also likely over these regions during this period.
As per yesterday’s report, rain/thundershowers observed most places over Uttarakhand; at many places over West Uttar Pradesh and Kerala & Mahe; at a few places over Odisha and at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi.
On the other hand, thunderstorm observed at many places over Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand.
Maximum Temperature Departures as on 26-04-2020:
Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated place East Assam; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Lakshadweep; at a few places over Konkan & Goa Coastal Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch.
Minimum Temperature Departures as on 26-04-2020:
Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
