Weather Department Issues Heavy Rain Alert in These Parts of the Country; Dry Weather to Prevail over Northern Region

Northwesterly winds are likely to prevail over the northern plains during next 3 days which will result in dry weather over the northern plains and adjoining central India (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) during next 2-3 days.

Northwesterly winds are likely to prevail over the northern plains during next 3 days which will result in dry weather over the northern plains and adjoining central India (Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh) during next 2-3 days.

On the other hand, isolated thunderstorm, lightning with gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) also very likely over rest of north-east India during next 24 hours, says IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) reports.

Under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance and its interaction with lower-level easterlies, scattered to fairly widespread rain/snow is likely over western Himalayan region and isolated to scattered rain is likely over plains of Northwest India during 06th-07th April 2020 with maximum intensity on 07th April. Moreover, isolated thunderstorm activity is also likely over the region during this period.

As per yesterday’s report, rain/ thundershowers observed at a few places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh & Arunachal Pradesh and at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Assam & Meghalaya.

On the other hand, thunderstorms observed at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Assam & Meghalaya, say reports.

As per reports, the maximum temperature was appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Saurashtra & Kutch, West Madhya Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal & Kerala.

Minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Madhya Maharashtra, North interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, Kerala and Assam & Meghalaya.
