Weather Forecast: Delhi Weather Updates and 5 Day Nationwide Prediction

After breaking the record for the lowest minimum temperature for June, now Delhi Temperature is expected to rise slightly, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Late night rain and dust storm brought Delhi’s minimum temperature on Tuesday down to 17.9 degrees Celsius (°C), the lowest ever recorded in June, ensuring that the city continued the trend of breaking some historical weather record every month since August 2020.

“From today, the temperature is expected to rise by a 1 or 2 degrees,” said Kuldeep Srivastava, head of IMD’S regional weather forecasting centre.

Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is present over Bangladesh and its nearby areas on Tuesday morning, which along with humid southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal could cause fairly widespread to widespread rain and thunderstorms over North- eastern Indian region. 

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur over isolated places of Assam and Meghalaya today, whereas heavy rainfall is expected over isolated regions of the same place from Thursday to Saturday. These areas may receive 24 hours precipitation of 150mm and 72 hours precipitation of 250mm from Monday. Heavy rainfall has also been forecast over isolated places of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Wednesday. 

Apart from this, westerly winds from the Arabian Sea are expected to persist between the surface and up to 3000m, bringing humidity over Kerala from Tuesday onward. A cyclonic circulation is over the east-central Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast in this period. Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Karnataka and Kerala in this forecast period. 

A Western Disturbance remains over Pakistan and its adjoining area on Tuesday. This phenomenon is set to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms over Uttarakhand, isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, and isolated to scattered rain and thunderstorms over Northern India on Wednesday and Thursday. 

Maximum temperatures are likely to be above 40 degree Celcius over west Rajasthan and Gujarat, and isolated areas of east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
