Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain & Thunderstorm Alert over These States; Kashmir to Witness Fresh Snowfall from November 13-15

Jammu and Kashmir will get rain and snow during the Diwali weekend, says the weather report in its morning bulletin.

Amid the starting of winter season, Jammu and Kashmir will get rain and snow during the Diwali weekend, says the weather report in its morning bulletin. According to reports, “There are chances of rain and snow from November 13 to 15,” said the department’s deputy director, Mukhtar Ahmad. On the other hand, dry weather is very likely over rest parts of the country during next 4-5 days.

These States Likely to Get Heavy Rain Today

Due to convergence of northeasterly winds over extreme southern peninsular India at lower tropospheric levels, Isolated to scattered rainfall very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days. Thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places also very likely over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe today, the 09th November, 2020.

Isolated to scattered rain/snow is likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh from 14th November.

On the other hand, shallow to moderate fog very likely in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 2-3 days.

This year was abnormally dry. The rainfall from July to October was also 35% below normal,” said meteorologist Mohammad Hussain.

According to reports, the meteorological department said that a western disturbance is approaching the region after more than two months of dry weather. Kashmir has had an unusually long dry spell this year, leading to shortage of water for drinking and irrigation.

Rain/Thundershowers observed at many places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; at a few places over Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places over Rayalseema and Lakshadweep while thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0530 hours IST of today): at a few places over Kerala & Mahe and at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.

Maximum & Minimum Temperature:

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan & Muzaffarabad and Kerala & Mahe; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Coastal Karnataka while Minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Coastal Karnataka and Rayalaseema; Himachal Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
