Weather Forecast: IMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall in Mumbai, Gujarat & Odisha; Light Showers Predicted in Delhi over Weekend
The government of Odisha has directed collectors of 5 districts to stay alert in view of the heavy rainfall prediction by the Weather Department. The state government issued an advisory to the collectors of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur to closely examine the situation as heavy rains may create a flood-like situation in these districts.

The state government issued an advisory to the collectors of Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur to closely examine the situation as heavy rains may create a flood-like situation in these districts. It has also asked the collectors to keep the administrative machinery ready to meet any unwanted situation that may arise because of heavy rains. Private as well as government schools will remain closed for 3 days (3 to 5 August) in Malkangiri district.
The district authorities have been ordered to make advance arrangements for food, water, sanitation, & medical facilities and relief camps.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai city will witness intense rainfall today (3 August) and tomorrow (4 August) due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. IMD has also issued warnings for inclement weather along the west coast. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Maharashtra will receive heavy rainfall.
Normal life was badly affected as the movement of rail and road traffic was disrupted because of continuous downpour since Friday.
Weather in Delhi Today
The National capital is likely to witness rainfall in the next 3 to 4 days, with the axis of monsoon trough moving towards north, the IMD said on Friday. One or two spells of intense showers are also predicted on Monday (5 August) & Tuesday (6 August).
Skymet Weather official said, "Currently, the axis of monsoon trough lies south of Delhi. It is slowly moving towards north. Also, a low pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal. It will improve rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand”. The official also said "Light showers are likely in Delhi today and tomorrow. On Monday & Tuesday, moderate rainfall with one or two intense spells is predicted".
IMD also issued a heavy rainfall alert for Vadodara, South Gujarat & Saurashtra districts in weekend. “Heavy to very heavy rains very expected at isolated places in the districts of Vadodara and South Gujarat, namely Navsari, Dangs, Valsad, Tapi, Surat, Narmada & Bharuch”.
