Weather Forecast: Severe Cold Wave Conditions Alert over North India; Temperature Likely to Dip Further in Delhi-NCR

Due to the cold wave conditions, the chilling wintery air is running from the plains to the mountains. Most of the cities of North India are in the grip of Cold Wave. The 3.4 degree Celsius minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR has broken the winter record. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy snowfall in the mountains is the main reason for the cold weather in the plains states.

As per reports, the gradual rise in minimum and maximum temperatures by 2-3°C are very likely over plains of Northwest & adjoining Central India during next 24 hours. No Cold Day conditions likely to prevail over Northwest & adjoining Central India during next 2 days except East Uttar Pradesh. However, the current spell of Cold Wave/Severe Cold Wave conditions over Northwest & adjoining Central India likely to abate from 21st December.

The average minimum temperature in most parts of northern India was recorded below 5 ° C. The outbreak of shivering winter is increasing with the fall in temperature. In fact, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are experiencing heavy snowfall. According to the Meteorological Department, the more snowfall on the mountains, the colder the plains will increase.

The cold wave will continue for a week

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar cold conditions to continue until next week. However, some relief can be expected after a week. The Meteorological Department said that the temperature will remain below normal in North India next week. The department, in its forecast from December 24 to 30, stated that the minimum temperature would remain 2-6 degrees Celsius below normal in most parts of northwest, central and eastern India.

Maximum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Himachal Pradesh; at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry while Minimum temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Rayalseema; at many places over Coastal Karnataka.
