Weather India: Cyclonic Storm 'Bulbul' Likely to Make Landfall Today, High Alert in Many States

“The Cyclonic Storm 'Bulbul' over the east-central Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards with a speed of 27 kmph during past 06 hours, intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm and lay centered at 1730 hours IST of today, the 07th November 2019”, said the Meteorological Department of India in its morning bulletin. The weather department moreover predicts light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over north coastal districts of Odisha on 8th & 9th November 2019 while light to moderate rainfall at most places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over coastal districts of West Bengal on 9th November 2019. On the other hand, a significant improvement in the Air Quality Index of Delhi was noticed on Thursday.

As per reports, it is hovering over west-central & adjoining the east-central Bay of Bengal, near Latitude 15.9°N and Longitude 88.0°E, about 510 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 640 km south of Sagar Islands (West Bengal) and 710 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh).

“It is very likely to intensify further till the early morning of 9th November. It is very likely to move initially north-northwestwards for next 12 hours, then nearly northwards till 9th November morning and then re-curve northeastwards towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal”, said the weather department.

On the other hand, Under the influence of cyclone 'Maha', heavy to very heavy rain/snow at isolated places is very likely over Jammu & Kashmir and heavy over Himachal Pradesh; isolated heavy rainfall at isolated heavy over Punjab, Gujarat region & Saurashtra coasts during next 24 hours, says reports.

Weather in Delhi

After observing severe air quality, a significant improvement in AQI of Delhi was noticed on Thursday. As per Skymet's report, very light rainfall and wind speed up to 20 to 25 kmph made this possible. The overall Air Quality Index of Delhi and NCR area reduced to 350, thus entering into the ‘poor category’ from ‘severe to very severe’ category in the recent past.

Maximum temperatures are reported appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam while minimum temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over West Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Saurashtra & Kutch.
