Weather India: IMD Predicts Heavy Shower over These Places Today; Rain in Mumbai to Continue
The flood situation in Bihar worsened on Sunday as water from overflowing rivers inundated fresh areas, while a total of 53.67 lakh people across 14 districts were affected, the Disaster Management Department said .
Moderate to severe thunderstorm with lightning very likely at isolated places over south Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Gangetic West Bengal, says the weather department in its morning bulletin.
Low pressure area lies over Jharkhand & adjoining Chhattisgarh along with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto upper tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height. It is very likely to move west-northwest and weaken gradually during next 2 days, says the weather department in its morning bulletin.
A trough runs from south Gujarat to the cyclonic circulation associated with the low pressure area at mid & upper tropospheric levels.
Strong southwesterly/westerly monsoonal flow over the Arabian sea with winds speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels very likely to continue to prevail during next 2 days. Surface wind speed gusting to 70 kmph along and off Mumbai & adjoining Konkan coast likely to continue till 6th August morning and gradually reduce thereafter.

These States Likely to Get Heavy Rain Today
Under the above favorable scenario;
(i) Widespread rainfall with isolated/ scattered heavy to very heavy falls most likely to continue over Gujarat state, Konkan & Goa (including Mumbai) and Madhya Maharashtra (ghat areas) till 6th August and reduce thereafter; isolated extremely heavy falls likely over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on 05th August and over Gujarat state on 05th August & 06th August.
(ii) Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls most likely over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic west Bengal, Jharkhand on 5th August 2020.
(iii) Widespread rainfall ( except Tamilnadu where isolated to scattered rainfall is likely ) with isolated heavy to very heavy falls also likely over Tamilnadu, Kerala and South Interior & Coastal Karnataka during next 4-5 days. Isolated extremely heavy falls likely over Coastal Karnataka on 05th, 08th, 09th August, over South interior Karnataka on 05th August; over Tamilnadu on 05th, 06th, 08th & 09th August; over Kerala & Mahe during 05-09th August, 2020.

Thundersquall observed (0830 hours IST to 1730 hours of today): at isolated palaces over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, East Rajasthan, Gujarat State and Vidharbha.
Maximum & Minimum Temperature
Maximum temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over West Rajasthan; at a few places over East Rajasthan and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim while Minimum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over West Rajasthan; at isolated places over East Rajasthan; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Saurashtra.
