Weather Report: These Southern States Will Witness Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Today

During the last 24 hours, there has been moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated heavy spells over Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Scattered light to moderate showers were also recorded over remaining Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Odisha, Lakshadweep and Goa.

During the last 24 hours, there has been moderate to heavy rainfall with isolated heavy spells over Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Scattered light to moderate showers were also recorded over remaining Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Odisha, Lakshadweep and Goa.

Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Gangetic West Bengal & Andaman and Nicobar Islands experienced scattered light to moderate rainfall.  Chennai city witnessed continuous rainfall on 17th October 2019 (Yesterday), becoming the wettest northeast monsoon day in the city since November 2017. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said that light to moderate rain will occur at many places in Tamil Nadu between Friday (18th October) and Monday (21st October). It further said that the maximum & minimum temperatures will be around 28 and 25 degree Celsius in the weekend.

In the meantime, moderate to heavy showers are expected over Coastal & North Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and some parts of Telangana could also witness light to moderate rainfall with one or two heavy spells today or tomorrow.

That was all about rain activities in the southern states of India, now coming towards Central part of the country then here scattered light to moderate rainfall will occur over South Konkan, Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

A Western Disturbance is lying over Afghanistan which will affect Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 18th October 2019. Due to this there are chances of isolated snow or rain along with thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.

Light rains are also expected over few places in Himachal Pradesh & Northeast India, while isolated rains are possible over Uttarakhand & North Haryana. The air quality in the National Capital improved marginally today, mainly due to a slight increase in wind speed, however it is still hovering in the 'very poor' category. Delhi Weather will be normal in the weekend.

Weather will be almost dry over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
