Weather Today: Heavy Rain Alert over These Parts of India; Over 3.5 Million Affected in Assam & Bihar Flood
Farmers in India are worried due to heavy rainfall in many parts of the country. According to the weather agency, these parts will continue receiving rainfall for the next few days. Also it has been predicted that Delhi-NCR will witness light showers in the weekend.
Unprecedented rain and flood have made the life of farmers more miserable amid the corona crisis. However, the Monsoon trough lies close to the foothills of Himalayas. It is very likely to shift southwards from 29th July onwards. Hence, monsoon rainfall activity very likely to remain subdued over plains of Northwest and Central India during next 27th and 28th July and its intensity & distribution very likely to increase thereafter. Convergence of strong southerly/southwesterly from Arabian Sea over northwest India is also very likely on 29th & 30th July, 2020, says the weather forecast reports in its morning bulletin.
Over 100 killed, 3.5 million people affected in Assam & Bihar Flood
In Assam, nearly 27 lakh people across 33 districts have been affected by the deluge. The deaths were reported from the Barpeta, Kokrajhar and Morigaon districts. The death toll due to floods and landslides this year has risen to 122.
These States Likely to Get Heavy Rain Today
Under above scenario, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states (mainly over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya) during 28th-30th July; over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during 29th-31st July; over Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala during 28th-30th July.
Moderate to intense thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over south Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during next 12 hours.
Maximum & Minimum Temperature
Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at
most places over East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Kerala & Mahe and Odisha; while Minimum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at
isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar.
