Weather Today: Heavy Rainfall Warning in These States; Air Quality Remains Unhealthy for Delhiites

Starting with Northern part of India, here isolated light rainfall could occur over Jammu & Kashmir. On the other hand, weather in other states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana will remain dry. The pollution in Delhi and National Capital Region will remain in the ‘poor to very poor’ category for few more days.

Starting with Northern part of India, here isolated light rainfall could occur over Jammu & Kashmir. On the other hand, weather in other states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana will remain dry. The pollution in Delhi and National Capital Region will remain in the ‘poor to very poor’ category for few more days.

Coming towards Central part of the country, here moderate showers with one or two heavy spells could continue over South Konkan, Goa and some parts of Marathwada & Madhya Maharashtra. Isolated rainfall is likely over Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh & South Gujarat. Light showers are possible over Mumbai whereas the weather in Saurashtra, Kutch, West Madhya Pradesh & Rajasthan will be almost dry.

The East & Northeast India, here a Trough is extending from the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal towards the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Bay of Bengal. In addition, a Cyclonic Circulation is present over Central Assam. There could be moderate to heavy rainfall over many parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. Scattered rainfall could also occur over South & East Bihar.

Moderate to heavy showers with one or two very heavy spells are likely over Meghalaya and Assam. Remaining parts of Northeast India will receive moderate rainfall. Cities like Guwahati, Kolkata and Jamshedpur will witness moderate to heavy rains.

Finally coming towards South India, a Deep Depression lying over East-central Arabian Sea will now start moving in East-northeast direction & will again recurve slowly to West by today evening or night. Due to this, moderate to heavy rainfall will continue over coastal Karnataka & Kerala. Moreover, light to moderate showers are expected over interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu & Rayalaseema. Due to a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Odisha coast, rain activities could increase over Telangana.

In the meantime, rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh will now decrease but moderate showers are possible over North-coastal Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad and Vijayawada will see moderate rainfall and light showers will continue over Bengaluru and Chennai.
