The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall, smog, and fog for parts of India in the coming week. Here's a closer look at the weather outlook for key regions, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the national capital.  

Cyclonic Circulation Over Bay of Bengal

A cyclonic circulation currently positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a low-pressure area within the next 48 hours. This system is expected to move westward toward the Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka coasts, influencing weather patterns across Southern India.

Rainfall Forecast and Alerts (November 9 - 14)

The IMD has issued rainfall alerts across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next week.

  • Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal: Heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms are expected daily from November 9 to November 14. Very heavy rainfall is forecasted for November 8 and November 12.

  • Kerala and Mahe: Isolated thunderstorms and lightning likely from November 8 to 14. Heavy rainfall is expected on November 8, with very heavy rainfall forecast for November 13 - 14.

  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema: Rain expected between November 11 - 13.

Residents in Himachal Pradesh should prepare for dense fog during the early morning hours of November 9 - 10. Caution is advised for travelers as visibility may be significantly reduced.

Temperature Conditions Across India

No major changes in minimum temperatures have been observed over the last 24 hours. Minimum temperatures remain 3-5℃ above normal in regions like Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and parts of Gujarat. For the Western Himalayan region, a gradual drop of 2-4℃ is anticipated over the next five days.
