A deep depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm on November 29, 2024. Located near latitude 10.6°N and longitude 82.6°E, the storm is positioned approximately 270 km north-northeast of Trincomalee, 300 km east of Nagapattinam, 340 km east-southeast of Puducherry, and 380 km southeast of Chennai. Moving northwestwards, it is expected to cross the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast near Karaikal and Mahabalipuram by the afternoon of November 30, bringing wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting up to 90 km/h.
