Weather Update: Cold Wave Grips Entire North India; Delhi-NCR Records Lowest Temperature of the Season
“The Deep Depression over the east-central Arabian Sea moved westwards with a speed of 16 kmph during past 06 hours and lay centered at 1730 hours IST of today”, says the weather department in its latest forecast. Moreover, the National Capital woke up with temperatures below 8 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning along with a very poor air quality index (AQI) of 450 at 9 am which falls under hazardous category. As per reports, a day after sudden fell below 10 degrees Celsius, Delhi witnessed more chiller morning due to the icy winds from the Himalayan hills, recorded the season’s lowest temperature. Dense fog in isolated pockets very likely to hover over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during the next 2 days, says reports.

“The Deep Depression over the southwest Arabian Sea remained practically stationary during past 06 hours and lay centered at 1730 hours IST of today, the 04th December 2019 near Lat. 7.4°N and Long. 56.6°E over southwest Arabian Sea, about 650 km south-southeast of Socotra (Yemen) and 920 km east-southeast of Bosaso (Somalia). It is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 12 hours. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards for some more time and then recurve west-southwestwards towards Somalia coast during the next 03 days”, says IMD on its morning bulletin.
As per yesterday’s report, at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands lashed with heavy rainfall dense fog observed in isolated pockets in West Utter Pradesh.
The maximum temperatures were reported above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Konkan & Goa; at a few places over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Assam & Meghalaya while minimum temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Gujarat.
