Weather Update: Cyclonic Circulation to Bring Light Rainfall across Parts of India
Scattered to fairly light and moderate rainfall is likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha today.
India is currently experiencing a complex interplay of weather systems influenced by cyclonic circulations across parts of Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Assam according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Cyclonic and Anti-Cyclonic Circulations
A cyclonic circulation prevails, accompanied by a trough extending from Kerala to north Telangana and another trough stretching from northeast Madhya Pradesh to south Assam in the lower atmosphere. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is observed over Jharkhand and its surrounding areas, with a trough aloft from northeast Uttar Pradesh to east Vidarbha in the middle and upper atmosphere. Meanwhile, an anti-cyclonic circulation is situated over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast in the lower tropospheric levels.
Scattered to Light Rainfall
These weather systems are bringing about varied conditions across different parts of the country. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha today,
Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam may experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms today. Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim are likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread light till Tuesday, accompanied by isolated instances of heavy rainfall and snowfall.
Western Disturbance
A western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan Region from Saturday night. Under its influence, scattered light rainfall and snowfall are likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand till Sunday, with isolated hailstorms also anticipated.
Temperature across India
The weather agency has predicted a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius for today in New Delhi. Maximum temperatures are predicted to be below normal by 7-9°C over many parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and other regions, while some areas may experience above-normal temperatures.
A gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C is anticipated over Maharashtra during the next 4-5 days. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Rayalaseema, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
However, there's a warning for isolated heat wave conditions over Saurashtra and Kutch today and over southwest Rajasthan on Saturday and Sunday. Residents and travelers need to stay informed about these weather developments and take necessary precautions accordingly.
