Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Along with Thunderstorm in Mumbai, Gujarat; Delhi to Witness Fresh Spells of Rains

The weather in Delhi has been dry and humid since past few days. But the weather conditions are going to change now. The axis of Monsoon Trough has started moving northwards due to which rainfall will start in Delhi & NCR today (31 July). The National Capital Region (Faridabad, Gurugram) will witness light and patchy rainfall.

Delhi weather today

The weather in Delhi has been dry and humid since past few days. But the weather conditions are going to change now. The axis of Monsoon Trough has started moving northwards due to which rainfall will start in Delhi & NCR today (31 July). The National Capital Region (Faridabad, Gurugram) will witness light and patchy rainfall.

By 1st August, the axis of Monsoon Trough will move close to the National Capital and a Cyclonic Circulation is also likely to form over the Southeast & adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh. Due to these systems, rain intensity is likely to increase by tomorrow. Between 2 - 4 August there are chances of moderate showers at several places in Delhi and NCR area.

The weather is the capital is expected to stay cloudy throughout the week. As the temperature will remain below normal Delhiites can enjoy the weather.

Meanwhile many places in Rajasthan including Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Baran and Jhalawar will receive moderate to heavy rainfall. After that, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells will go on over the eastern districts and some parts of Central Rajasthan till weekend. Jaipur will experience moderate spells of rain in between 1 to 3 August, 2019.

The western districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur will remain almost dry. However, isolated rain activities cannot be ruled out over some parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner and Barmer.

According to reports, during the past 24 hours, several parts of Gujarat received very good rainfall. Moderate to heavy showers took place over many places in Saurashtra and Kutch, particularly in Naliya, Okha & Bhuj. Currently, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Kutch as well as its adjoining parts of South Sindh. Thus, light to moderate rainfall will continue over Kutch region.

Mumbai Rain Update

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), districts of Thane, Raigad and Palghar in Maharashtra will witness heavy rainfall later in the day today. The Met Department said thunderstorm accompanied with strong winds with the speed of 30 to 40 kmph and heavy rains will lash Raigad, Thane and Palghar districts in the next few hours.
