Weather Update: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert for Tamil Nadu, AP; Check Details Inside
The weather department forecast that over the next 4-5 days, minimum temperatures will gradually decrease by 2-3 degrees Celsius over Northwest India.
Several southern Indian states are expected to receive heavy rain in the coming days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated heavy rainfall is expected on November 21 and 22 over north-coastal Tamil Nadu-Puducherry, south-coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema.
Meanwhile, the depression in the southwest and adjacent southeast Bay of Bengal remained almost stationary. The depression is expected to maintain its intensity and move west-northwestwards slowly towards the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh over the next 48 hours, according to the MeT Department.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected to begin over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining north Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema.
"The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase with light to moderate rainfall at many places and isolated heavy rainfall over North Tamilnadu-Puducherry and south coastal Andhra Pradesh & Rayalaseema on the 21st and 22nd November and light to moderate rainfall at a few places over North coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period," the weather service said.
Squally winds of 45-55 kmph with gusts up to 65 kmph are expected to prevail over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, as well as along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Sri Lanka until November 22. On November 21 and 22, similar weather conditions are expected over the Gulf of Mannar.
Over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal, sea conditions will be rough to very rough. Fishermen are advised not to go out to sea. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures in many parts of Northwest India are expected to fall two to four degrees Celsius below normal.
