Weather Update: Severe Weather Systems Sweep Across India, IMD Issues Warnings
A Western Disturbance, manifesting as a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and neighboring areas, is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall in the Northern region.
As India braces for a bout of turbulent weather, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of alerts detailing the onslaught of weather systems expected to sweep across various regions of the country. With the potential for heavy rainfall, snowfall, and even thunderstorms, citizens are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
IMD Predicts: Northern Regions Prepare for Deluge
In the northern reaches of India, a complex weather pattern is set to unfold. A Western Disturbance, manifesting as a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and neighboring areas, is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall to regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, isolated heavy rainfall and snowfall were forecasted for select areas on Saturday. As this system wanes, scattered showers and thunderstorms are predicted over Punjab, Haryana, and other northern states, followed by a return to dry conditions.
IMD Predicts: Eastern India Braces for Impact
Meanwhile, in the eastern swathes of the country, a separate set of weather phenomena are poised to make landfall. Cyclonic circulations and troughs are anticipated over Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, heralding a period of scattered to widespread rainfall and snowfall. States like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are expected to bear the brunt of heavy precipitation, with isolated instances of very heavy falls. Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar are also in line for scattered showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the coming days.
IMD Predicts: Temperature Extremes Grip the Nation
As weather systems clash overhead, temperature extremes are gripping different parts of India. Maximum temperatures soared to unprecedented levels yesterday, reaching as high as 43°C in certain regions. Today, minimum temperatures are above normal in several areas, signaling warm nights ahead. IMD forecasts a slight dip in maximum temperatures across Northwest India in the coming days, followed by a gradual rise. Conversely, Central, East, and South India are expected to experience an uptick in maximum temperatures, with little change predicted for Maharashtra.
IMD Predicts: Warnings Issued for Heat Waves and Humid Conditions
Adding to the meteorological tapestry, IMD has issued warnings for heat waves, warm nights, and hot, humid weather. Heatwave conditions are anticipated in isolated pockets across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, and Rayalaseema over the next few days. Similarly, warm nights are expected to prevail in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Marathwada. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather is forecasted for regions spanning Telangana to Tamil Nadu, prompting residents to take necessary precautions against the scorching temperatures and stifling humidity.
