Weather Warning: Delhi-NCR to Experience More Rainfall from February 18 to 22

Thunderstorm and winds could disrupt railway and airline operations in the coming days as western disturbances are expected to bring more rainfall across Delhi and adjoining areas from February 18 to February 22. 

According to IMD, there will be mist and shallow fog today, with the possibility of very light rainfall and thundershowers. The minimum temperature is however expected to settle at 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be around 26 degrees Celsius. 

It further said, “Fairly widespread rain or snowfall will occur over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and scattered to fairly-widespread over Uttarakhand during the next four days. 

Humidity in the region throughout the day will oscillate from 60% to 63%, said IMD. 

System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) said, "Under the influence of western disturbances, strong winds and scattered rain can occur between February 18 and 21. This will have a positive influence on air quality. The air quality is expected to remain in the higher end of 'moderate' to the lower end of 'poor' till February 21."  

As per Skymet Weather, rains of varying intensity from February 18 to February 22 across New Delhi and adjoining areas of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad can be expected. 

It also added, "At present, an active Western Disturbance has approached the Western Himalayas, which would be soon inducing a Cyclonic Circulation over northwestern plains. Due to these systems, Delhi-NCR may receive scattered light to moderate rain and thundershower activities during this week."  

Until now, New Delhi has received excess rainfall by 112%. It witnessed an intense spell of hailstorm on February 7. The minimum and maximum temperatures are hovering at 13 Degree Celsius and 24 Degree Celsius. 

Interestingly, since the last four years, Delhi has not received any significant rainfall. 2017 and 2018 remained dry, 2016 received 1.3 mm, followed by 2015 with 1.8 mm.
