Weather Warning: Gutsy Wind along with Heavy Rainfall Likely over Northern States from 17th April

According to the latest weather report, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region and adjoining northern plains from 17th April which is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershower over the Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered rain/thundershower over northern plains on 17th & 18th April. This could also result in isolated thunderstorms/hailstorms and gusty winds over these areas during the same period says the Indian Meteorological Department in its morning bulletin. 

Widespread Rainfall Likely over the Northeastern States 

Due to the convergence of strong moist winds from the Bay of Bengal, eastern states (especially West Bengal & Sikkim and east Bihar) and Northeast India are very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Northeastern states during next 5 days. Thundersqualls & hailstorms are also very likely over these regions during the same period. 

As per reports, maximum temperatures in the range of 41-43°C are likely to prevail over parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka during next 2 days. Maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3°C over plains of northwest India and Gujarat region during next 2-3 days. 

Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at a few places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya; at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. 

Heat Wave Conditions Continues in Gujarat 

As per yesterday's reports, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions observed in isolated pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch. 

Thunderstorm observed (from 1130 IST of yesterday to 0530 hours of today): at isolated places over West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka and Uttarakhand. 

As per yesterday’s report, maximum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.0°C or more) at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh while minimum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at many places over Punjab; at a few places over Rajasthan; at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad.
