Weather Warning! Heavy Rain & Thunderstorm Alert over These Parts of India; Farmers Asked to Stay Vigilant

Weather Today: Due to continued moisture incursion, strong wind convergence and conducive upper-level features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity are very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during the next 5-6 days, says the Indian Meteorological Department in its morning bulletin.

Weather Today: Due to continued moisture incursion, strong wind convergence and conducive upper-level features, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity is very likely to continue over parts of East and Northeast India during the next 5-6 days, says the Indian Meteorological Department in its morning bulletin. As per reports, isolated heavy rainfall, thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph over Eastern India and more than 60 kmph over Northeast India) & hailstorms are also very likely over West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during this period. 

Heavy Rain to Lash over South India

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thundershower activity along with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days. Rainfall activity is likely to increase over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal from 25th April onwards. Thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds & heavy rainfall are also likely over these regions during this period. 

North India Weather Forecast

Under the influence of a Western Disturbance, parts of Northwest India likely to experience isolated to scattered rain/thundershower activity during next 24 hours. A fresh Western disturbance likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershower activity over Northwest India from 26th April onwards. Isolated hailstorm activity is also likely over the region during 26th-27th April, 2020.

Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hrs IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at a few places over Bihar and at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Uttar Pradesh.

As per yesterday’s reports, thunderstorm accompanied observed reported (from 1130 hrs IST to 1730 hrs IST of yesterday): at isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, East Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. 

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Konkan & Goa; at isolated places Kerala & Mahe and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Gujarat while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Gujarat.

The administration has the farmers to stay alert so that they could protect their crops and produce.
