Under its influence, Squally winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph on 01st May over south Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal; wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over the same regions on 02nd May and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on 03rd & 04th May. Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places are also likely over Nicobar Islands on 01st & 02nd May and over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 03rd & 04th May, says the Indian Meteorological Department report in morning bulletin.

Under the influence of trough/Wind Discontinuity across Peninsular India, scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers are likely over Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Karnataka during next 24 hours and isolated rain/thundershowers over remaining parts of south peninsular India during next 5 days. Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are also likely over these regions during this period.

The present Western Disturbance is likely to cause isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi during next 24 hours. A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Western Himalayan Region, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during 03rd06th May. Isolated thunderstorms, hailstorms, lightning, gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are also likely over these regions during this period.
Rainfall activity likely to increase
Rainfall activity is likely to get further enhanced over Northeast India & adjoining Eastern states during 04th-07th May. Severe convective activity and isolated heavy rainfall are also likely over this region during this period.
Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at many places over Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya.
As per yesterday’s reports, maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir and at isolated place over Gujarat Region and Konkan & Goa while minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Gujarat region.
