Weather Warning: These States Likely to Get Heavy Shower in Next 24 Hours; Coastal Karnataka & Kerala on High Alert
Under the influence of Meteorological systems, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls most likely to continue over Gujarat state, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra (Ghat areas) during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter. Strong southwesterly/westerly monsoon flow prevailing over the Arabian sea and along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels likely to continue for next 48 hours.
Monsoon trough is active and lies to the south of its normal position, says the weather department in its morning bulletin. Under the above conditions, many states are likely to get heavy shower in next 24 hours. The low-pressure area over Northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining coastal areas of Kutch & south Pakistan persists. The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels also persists. A trough extends from this cyclonic circulation to Gangetic West Bengal across central India at low-mid tropospheric levels.
These States Likely to Get Heavy Rain Today
Heavy Rainfall Expected Over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely over isolated places of Tamil Nadu. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted over isolated places of coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
Under the influence of above systems, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls most likely to continue over Gujarat state, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra (Ghat areas) during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter. Strong southwesterly/westerly monsoon flow prevailing over the Arabian sea and along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels likely to continue for next 48 hours. Under its influence,
(i) Scattered heavy to very heavy falls with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 2 days and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during subsequent 3 days.
(ii) Isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Tamilnadu during next 4 days. Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over Coastal Karnataka during next 24 hours and over Tamilnadu (Hilly regions of Nilgiri, Coimbatore and Theni districts)
during next 48 hours.
A low pressure area is likely to develop over North & adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal around 9 August, 2020. Under its influence, rainfall activity likely to increase over east & adjoining parts of central India from 9 August onwards.

Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; while Minimum temperatures are appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over
Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Punjab and at isolated paces over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Assam & Meghalaya.
