Why farmers want to leave their state for Telangana ?

Farmers in some of Maharashtra’s villages want to leave their state for Telangana and want to take their entire village with them. Yes, you read that right.

These villagers, who reside in areas that touch the Telangana border, have written a letter to chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, appealing to him to integrate their villages into his state.

The unusual request has been made so that they farmers there can also get the benefit of the recently launched Rythu Bandhu Scheme, which translates to ‘friends of farmers’. 

The investment support scheme, a first of its kind in India, offers financial support to farmers twice every year to maximise agricultural produce.Farmers will get investment support of Rs 8,000 per acre every year, that is, Rs 4000 each for monsoon and Rabi season, under the scheme. It is expected to benefit nearly 58 lakh farmers in the state. 

To avail its benefits, the president of the Dharmabad Taluka Sarpanch Association President expressed willingness to integrate their villages into Telangana.  The sarpanch of Babli village in Dharmabad Taluka in Nanded District of Maharashtra also met TRS MP Kavitha, while she was distributing Rythu Bandhu cheques and pattadar passbooks in her constituency Nizamabad in Telangana. 

Farmers in Telangana were also issued loan waivers by the KCR government and get 24-hour free power supply and Rs 5 lakh life insurance.
