Workshop on Marker Assisted Breeding in Oilseed Mustard (Brassica juncea) at Centre for Genetic Manipulation of Crop Plants (CGMCP),University of Delhi South Campus from 20 to 25 August 2018

The workshop will provide hands on experience to 12 participants on molecular mapping and marker assisted introgression of quality traits and white rust resistance in oilseed mustard. CGMCP has carried out extensive work on mapping of quantitative traits, oil and meal quality traits and disease resistance in Brassica species. Workshop will accommodate scientists from seed companies and public sector laboratories that are actively involved in mustard breeding to develop improved varieties and hybrids. 

Participants will be provided access to information on markers and materials required for quality breeding and white rust resistance. 

The workshop is supported by DBT-UDSC Partnership Centre on Genetic Manipulation of Brassicas funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).

Applicants may send information on their educational and research background, and briefly describe their organization’s activities in mustard breeding. Knowledge of basic principles of genetics/plant breeding and some experience with molecular markers will be necessary for benefitting from the workshop. Application for participation should reach CGMCP by 30 June 2018. Successful applicants will be informed by 15 July 2018. Participants will have to make their own arrangements for their travel and stay in Delhi.
