The Coconut Development Board is celebrating World Coconut Day on September 2. This year the theme is ‘A Healthy Wealthy Life with Coconut’.

World Coconut Day is celebrated to commemorate the formation day of Asian Pacific Coconut Community (APCC). India is one of the founder members of APCC.

Around 400 farmers from all coconut growing states will take part in the event.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare Radha Mohan Singh will inaugurate the celebrations at Shubam Kalyana Vedhika at Ramavarappadu Ring Road, Vijayawada. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will preside over the function. Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, MPs Konakalla Narayana Rao, Kesineni Srinivas and MLAs Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, Gadde Rama Mohan, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Jaleel Khan and others will participate.
