Every year World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5. It is no different this year, however, the world is getting back to the new normal, defying the lethal disease – Covid-19.

While human beings across the globe were fighting Covid-19, the environment heaved a sigh of relief. And, the time mankind was locked inside their houses. It is one of the hard realities which we find quite difficult to gulp once and for all. Nature expressed its wrath and yet the human race refuses to embrace or take slightest of the cue from what has gone by. We are still polluting nature like we used to do before Covid.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is celebrating World Environment Day with a theme -- #BeatPlasticPollution. Bollywood actress, Dia Mirza, who has actively been participating in UN projects, and has been the Goodwill Ambassador UNEP, UN Secretary Generals Advocate for SDGs, tweeted saying – “There’s more than one way to #BeatPlasticPollution. Carry your own glass. Avoid #SingleUsePlastic 🙌🏼  #ZeroWasteTravel”

Also, Sadhguru, the Founder of Isha Foundation, said, “Ending the ‘use and throw’ mentality is not only about reducing pollution – it is about Respect to all of Creation. Everything comes from the Living Earth. Let us use it Responsibly. #WorldEnvironmentDay #BeatPlasticPollution #SaveSoil #SadhguruQuotes”

Moreover, several eminent figures from the Government of India, have also joined hands with the vision of the UN to save the environment.
