Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Chief Executive Officer, NRRA to Inaugurate Krishi Jagran’s Live Session on World Pulses Day

Krishi Jagran will organize a live session on "World Pulses Day", in which Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Chief Executive Officer, NRRA will be the chief guest. This session will take place on February 10, 2022 (Thursday).

Pulses have a great history, having been an important source of nutrition for humans and animals for over ten thousand years. Their importance was established, however, when, as a result of hunger, poverty, and food shortages, the world's concern evolved to include new goals such as feeding a large population with a healthy, sanitary, and adequate diet. 

World Pulses Day this year will be celebrated for the fourth time on February 10th 2022 (Thursday) with the theme, "Pulses to empower youth in achieving sustainable agrifood systems”. 

This year’s FAO theme for World Pulses Day is “Pulses to empower youth in achieving sustainable agri food systems”. In the above context, Krishi Jagran is organizing Live session on “Pulses to Empower Youth in Achieving Sustainable Seed Production, Distribution & Agri-Food System”. This session will take place on 10th February 2022 (2:00 PM onwards). 

Dr. Ashok Dalwai, Chief Executive Officer, National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA), Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, is the chief guest as well as one of the eminent speakers who will share his views on the topic.

About Ashok Dalwai 

Ashok Dalwai is an IAS officer from the 1984 batch who has been in the job since July 2017. Dalwai has a distinguished career in development administration, having undertaken various changes in the state of Odisha's rural agrarian sector. In his roles as District Collector in the states of Odisha and Karnataka, he has put his extensive understanding of agriculture to good use. 

Dr Dalwai envisioned and implemented various infrastructure projects as a key member of the Bangalore Agenda Task Force (BATF), which converted the city into India's Silicon Valley and Garden City.

He was the architect of the 'Self-Assessment Scheme' (SAS) for property taxation, which was acclaimed as a national model in urban administration. He has also served in the state government in various capacities, including Secretary of the Karnataka Government's Commerce and Industries Department, Principal Secretary, Industries Department, and Principal Secretary, Steels and Mines, Odisha.

He has served as Chairman of the Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC), the Industrial Development Corporation of Orissa (IDCOL), the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), and the Industry Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa, among others (IPICOL). Dr. Dalwai has re-engineered the Corporations into customer-focused organizations and incorporated modern management practices during his tenure.

He was the UIDAI's Deputy Director-General. He was the Head of the Technology Centre at the time, which was in charge of designing and deploying cutting-edge biometric enrolment and de-duplication technology. He was also in charge of the Bangalore Region, which included Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Lakshadweep.
