Youth Festival Begins in Ludhiana Today After 3 Years Gap

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) is hosting a youth festival that begins today i.e., October 13 in Ludhiana. The festival which will continue till October 20 will be conducted in two phases.

Talking to media, Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director of Students' Welfare, said, "We are conducting a youth festival after a three-year gap due to Covid-19 restrictions." 

He said our students are very happy and excited about such events. In the past, students have won records in different extra-curricular events in all-India agricultural and veterinary inter-university festivals.

Dr. Rampal said that the young who will participate in the event will serve as a springboard for students to reach new heights. Moreover, a committee has been formed to manage things properly.

Youth Festival First Phase Details

According to Dr. APS Brar, Organising Secretary, the first phase will include photography, quiz, cartoon making, and poster-making competitions on October 13; collage making, clay modelling, elocution and poetry competitions on October 14; rangoli making, installation, and on-the-spot painting competitions on October 15; and creative writing, extempore, and debate competitions on October 16. In the second phase, on October 18, there will be a ceremonial inauguration, folk songs, creative dance (solo), light vocal and group songs (Indian), and theatre events such as mime, skit, mimicry, and one-act play on October 19.

On the final day of the youth festival i.e. October 20, a male/female group folk dance will be performed. He also added that these festivals foster friendly relationships among kids and help them gain confidence and prize distribution will also take place on the final day. The full youth festival will be run in accordance with the inter-university competition guidelines.

Dr. Rampal believes that the event will leave all participants and viewers with a positive, pleasant, and colourful impression.

Objective of Youth Festival

Youth festival mainly aims to propagate the concept of national integration, communal harmony, brotherhood, courage and adventure amongst the youth by providing them a platform for inculcating values and respect for traditions, culture and heritage.

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was set up in Ludhiana by an act of the Punjab Legislature No. 16 of 2005 notified in the Punjab Govt Gazette on 9 August 2005. The University started working w.e.f. 21 April 2006 for promoting livestock production, health & prevention of diseases via integrated teaching, research & extension programmes.
