JEE Main 2019 Exam Pattern: Students Appearing Must Follow This

NTA is going to organize the most awaited engineering exam, JEE Main 2019 from January 6 to 20, 2019. The entrance test will be held in two shifts – 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2:30pm to 5:30pm for Paper 1. However, Paper II will be held in single shift only.

NTA is going to organize the most awaited engineering exam, JEE Main 2019 from January 6 to 20, 2019. The entrance test will be held in two shifts – 9:30am to 12:30pm and 2:30pm to 5:30pm for Paper 1. However, Paper II will be held in single shift only.

However, no new changes have been made in the  JEE Main exam pattern.

JEE Main is an engineering national level test held every year to provide admission to various exam qualifying candidates in B.E, B.Tech, B. Arch and B. Plan courses.  

With the new changes introduced by HRD ministry this year, this test will be organized now twice every year in the months of January and April.  

Admission will be offered to the students into various prestigious institutions like IITs, NITS, CFTI’s etc.  

Pattern of JEE Main 2019 for Paper 1  

Exam Mode 

Paper 1 will be held in computer based test mode 

Total Shifts and Timing 

Paper 1 will be held in two shifts.  

First Shift Timing - 9.30am to 12.30pm 

Second Shift Timing - 2:30pm to 5:30pm 

Total Sections 

There will be three sections in the paper 

·             Part 1 – Physics 

·             Part 2 – Chemistry 

·             Part 3 – Mathematics  

Nature of Questions  

 

Objective type of questions 

Number of Questions 

Paper 1 will contain total – 90 questions (30 questions from each section) 

Maximum Marks 

Paper 1 will be of total - 360 marks (120 marks for each section) 

Exam Duration  

3 hours 

Exam Medium 

Paper shall be in English and Hindi language. Also in Gujarati language for the exam centers located in Gujarat, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu  

Marking Scheme 

For each correct answer: +4 marks 

For every incorrect answer: -1 mark 

   

Pattern of JEE Main 2019 for Paper 2 

Exam Mode 

Paper 2 will be held in computer based test mode (except for drawing test) 

The Drawing test will be held in offline mode on a drawing sheet 

Total Shifts  

Paper 2 will be held in single shifts.  

Total Sections 

There will be two parts in the paper 

·             Part 1 – Mathematics 

·             Part 2 – Aptitude Test 

·             Part 3 – Drawing Test  

Nature of Questions  

 

Part 1 and 2 ( Mathematics and Aptitude Test) - Objective type  

Part 3 (Drawing Test) – Subjective type  

Number of Questions 

Paper 2 will contain total – 82 questions (30 in Mathematics; 50 in Aptitude Test; 2 in Drawing Test)  

Maximum Marks 

Paper 2 will be of total - 390 marks (Mathematics – 120 marks; Aptitude Test - 200 marks; Drawing Test - 70 marks) 

Exam Duration  

3 hours 

Exam Medium 

Paper shall be in English, Hindi and Gujarati language.  

Marking Scheme 

For each correct answer - +4 marks 

For each incorrect answer – 1 mark 

Note: In the drawing test, marks will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of their drawing skills shown in the test. 

The above exam pattern of JEE Main 2019 completely explains various details of the test for Paper 1 and Paper 2. JEE Main 2019 Test will be held in eight sittings from 6th to 20th January, 2019 for Paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech). For admission into B. Plan and B. Arch programme, Paper 2 will be held in single shift on 8th January, 2019.
