Rice Kheer

Numerous festivals in India are associated with appetizing sweets and delicious meals. Delicious items like barfi, mithai and pakoras are part of the preparation you can see at most festivals. Raksha Bandhan is one of the Hindu Festivals that holds a special place at the hearts of the Indian people. This festival celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Raksha Bandhan is incomplete if without mouth watering food and especially sweets.

Seviyan kheer:

Seviyan kheer is very popular sweet dish in Indian houses. It is also famous as vermicelli kheer. It is native to North Indian sweet made of wheat vermicelli, milk, sugar, dry fruits and flavoured with spices. It is easy to cook without spending much time. Recipe of seviyan kheer is given below.

Recipe:

Take a kadhai and heat ghee. Then add vermicelli and sauté it for 5 to 7 minute. You will see it will turn into light pink in color. Add 1/4 of water in 1 cup of water, mix it and cook it low to medium flame for 7 to 9 minutes. You are suggested to stir it till the vermicelli is cooked. Add sugar according to your taste, some dry fruits and boiled milk according to the required texture. Add cardamom powder. Cook the dish on slow flame for 2 to 5 minutes. Serve it with your favorite dry fruits.

Rice Kheer:

It is an Indian rice pudding made with only three basic ingredients: rice, milk and sugar. It is commonly made in India as the basic ingredients are readily available everywhere.

Recipe:

Wash and soak the rice. Boil milk in a deep and thick saucepan. When it starts to boil, lower the heat and let it simmer. Stir it from time to time. After 5 to 8 minutes take soaked rice and crush them into small pieces with the help of pestle or mortar. Then add rice to simmering milk. It is up to you if you want to use saffron strands. Let rice cooked for 10 to 15 minutes. Stir it time to time. Add sugar according to your taste and stir it once again. Cook it till the kheer thickens slightly. Add powder of cardamom and garnish it with your favorite nuts.

Chana Rajma lobia salad:

This Chana Rajma lobia salad is a nutritious salad rich in protein and minerals that can be made ahead of time. It is very filling and can be served as a snack.

Recipe:

Use dried chana, rajma, lobia and mushrooms. Soak them in water for a night and boil them until cooked, but not too much. Add salt to taste before boiling each one. Be sure to boil each bean separately because the cooking time will be different for different types of beans. Canned beans can also be used.
