Safina New Pesticide Launched from BASF for Cotton & Vegetable Crops

Whiteflies menace is world over known and some time back there was lot of damage of  the cotton crop in Punjab and adjoining areas. To control critical piercing-sucking insect pests such as jassids and whiteflies both adults and early instar nymphs for use on cotton and other vegetable crops. Safina a listed chemical manufacturing major company BASF India Limited launched internationally its new pesticide for cotton and vegetable crops.

The farmers in India will be able to protect their crops and boost productivity with use of the new pesticide which is a pioneering solution is powered by new active ingredient, 'Inscalis', the first of its kind from a novel chemical class 'Pyropenes'. On the occasion of launch, the company Managing Director and Chairman Raman Ramachandran informed.

Growers in India are now among the first in the world to benefit from our latest innovation 'Safina' in farming which is derived from a fermentation process of naturally occurring fungus and has a favorable environmental profile with no negative impact to important beneficial arthropods and pollinators, said Gustavo Palerosi Carneiro, Senior Vice President, Crop Protection Asia Pacific of the company at the launch event.

Dr. Ramachandran further added that the Safina offers a new mode of action and gives farmers a powerful new tool for the control of key insect pests as part of integrated pest management programs. Talking about the future plans he informed that "The Company will launch 20 more pesticides and herbicides in the next three to five years time in the country."

The Safina acts fast and quickly stops insects from feeding after they come into contact with treated crops and reduces nutrient loss and vectoring of harmful viral or bacterial pathogens, ultimately resulting in healthier plants that can achieve optimal yields with higher quality, Carneiro further added.
