3 New Agriculture Courses Introduced by IGNOU, Find Eligibility & Other Details Inside

IGNOU’s School of Agriculture has launched 3 new courses; a master’s degree program, a PG Level, and a diploma. Find Details of all these programs below.

Students will now a have 3 more Agriculture Courses to choose from at IGNOU

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is now launching 3 new agriculture related courses for the session 2022. IGNOU’s School of agriculture has launched a master’s degree programme, a PG Level and a diploma (M.Sc in Food Safety & Quality Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness & Diploma in Horticulture).

M.Sc in Food Safety & Quality Management (M.SC FSQM): 

M.Sc in Food Safety & Quality Management (M.SC FSQM) will be a 2 year course and students will have maximum duration of 4 years to complete the programme.  

This course has been launched with an objective od developing qualified and competent human resources in the field of food safety and quality management for regulators, industry, academic /research institutions, certifying and accreditation bodies, food trade, food testing & training. 

In order to get admission to Masters in Food Safety & Quality Management, a candidate must be a         

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in Science with Chemistry/Biochemistry or microbiology as one of the subjects.

  • Graduate / Post Graduate in allied science such as Agriculture/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ Post Harvest Technology/ Engineering/ Home Science/ Life science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ BioTechnology/ Horticulture/ Dairy Technology/ Veterinary/ Fisheries/ Hotel Management and Catering/ Hospitality Management etc. 

  • Graduate with PG Diploma in Food Safety and Quality Management (lateral entry for 2nd year of M.Sc).

Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness: 

This program will promote entrepreneurship among farmers, middlemen, and traders, as well as other agribusiness stakeholders. It will also instill and improve managerial abilities in agriculture, food, and related industries, as well as agribusiness experts. 

For Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness(PGDAB), interested candidates should have successfully completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. 

Diploma in Horticulture: 

The Diploma in Horticulture (DHORT) is a one-year programme designed with financial help from the Ministry of Agriculture Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Candidates will have three years to complete this course at the most. 

Candidates who want to take admission to this course must have successfully completed Class 12.
