Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday released Rs.1500 crore to the state's farmers under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana, a day after the Congress hinted at the possibility of promising an increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

This is the third installment of the state's flagship scheme, the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, which includes a dividend of Rs.10.81 crore to farmers who sold cow dung to the state under the state's unique Godhan Nyay Yojna, under which the state buys cow dung from individuals for Rs.2 per kg.

The Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana was introduced in 2020 with the goal of providing farmers a fair price for their goods, improving Kharif crop productivity and crop diversification, and reaping advantages from the Kharif marketing year retroactively.

As a result, on May 22, 2021-22, the farmers received an amount of around Rs.1525 crore as the first installment in their account. On the occasion of the late Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary, the second installment of Rs.1522 was distributed under the scheme on August 20.

At the occasion held at his residential office on the occasion of Rajyotsava, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel transferred an amount of Rs.1510.81 crore to the bank accounts of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana beneficiaries.

The third installment of the Rajiv Gandhi Nyay Yojana was transferred to the bank accounts of farmers in the state, while the Godhan Nyay Yojana transferred Rs.10.81 crore to the bank accounts of beneficiaries, gauthan committees, and women self-help groups.

According to the communiqué, this gift, given just before Diwali and Dhanteras, has increased the delight of 21 lakh villagers and farmers in the state.

CM Baghel addressed the people of the state on the occasion of Rajyotsav, saying that Rajyotsav is an important holiday for the people of Chhattisgarh since it marks the realisation of our long-awaited dream of forming a state. The third installment of Rs.1500 crore under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana has been paid to the state's farmers, according to the CM.
