On the first anniversary of Centre’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on 24th February 2020, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched a mobile app in order to broaden the reach of the scheme that aims to provide Rs 6,000 per year to each eligible farmer. PM-Kisan scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24th February 2019 in Uttar Pradesh. It is important to mention that all the states have implemented the PM-Kisan scheme, except for West Bengal.

Until now, 9.74 crore farmers have been registered under PM Kisan yojana against the target of 14 crore cultivators. Of which, the payment has been made to around 8.45 crore farmers after the data has been verified by the state governments, according to the official data.

The minister while launching the mobile app said that this has been developed to broaden the reach of the scheme, which is playing a big role in achieving the target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.

By using this mobile application, farmers can check scheme eligibility, their registration status, payment status, and correct name according to Aadhaar card, besides helpline numbers & self-registration features, Tomar said.

The National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has developed and designed the mobile app.

Already, there is a portal on PM-Kisan (www.pmkisan.gov.in/) is in place for registration of farmers under the scheme.
