CM Bommai Assures Scientific Approach To Solve Farmer's Problems

While speaking at the finale event of the fourth edition of the VK Star Raitha awards, Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai assured farmers about implementing projects in a scientific manner to help them better.

The event is organized by Vijay Karnataka (VK) Kannada daily, a platform to identify and recognize progressive farmers.  This edition of the VK Super Star Raitha was held at Hirekerur in the Haveri district on Saturday. Addressing the farmers, CM Bommai said that despite a number of initiatives, farmers continue to face a number of problems. It looks like our programmers are not reaching the farmers. Hence, we will take a scientific approach to solve the problems of the farmers.

20 farmers were felicitated during the finale of VK Super Star Raitha. It is a unique platform that honors the progressive farmers who have excelled in their agricultural efforts from all over Karnataka. Agriculture minister BC Patil and others were also present at the event.

More About VK Super Star Raitha Platform: In the last several editions of the event, over 40,000 farmers have participated in all kinds of activities organized by the VK Super Star Raitha platform. Farmers participated in award programmers, knowledge seminars and discussed their best agricultural practices.

The event recognizes progressive farmers in the field of horticulture, agriculture, animal husbandry, sericulture, floriculture, fisheries, irrigation, organic farming, etc. The platform also recognizes women farmers who have brought great success to the field of agriculture in Karnataka.

Karnataka is an agrarian economy that contributes to 11% of India’s agricultural produce. Over 65% of the land is used for agriculture and about 60% of the people undertake agriculture as their primary occupation. The farmers’ community in Karnataka relies heavily on the monsoon for their crops. Rice and sugarcane are the most profitable crops in Karnataka.
