Importance of Floriculture

Flowers have long been regarded as a symbol of grace and elegance, as well as a visual feast. They're used at all religious festivals. Flowers are often given as birthday gifts, wedding gifts, or when visiting sick individuals, as well as at funerals. Most Hindu women wear flowers in their hair, such as Gajara and Veni, and it is one of the most essential floral ornaments that adds grace to their beauty. Flowers are loved by all individuals, regardless of their origin, ethnicity, sex, or cadre.

Devotees commonly offer flowers in temples, gurudwaras, churches, and mosques. Flowers can also be used as a decorative element. Even dried flowers are used in flower arrangements, such as garlands and bouquets, which are made and offered to greet dignitaries. When cut flowers are used to decorate a vase, it becomes a stunning piece of indoor decoration.

Flowers are important not just for the aesthetics, adornment, or preparation of Gajra, Garland, Veni, or Bouquets, but also for their industrial value. Some flowers, such as roses, Jasmines, tuberose, Kevda, and Bakul, are used to extract essential oils, which are used to make perfumes, fragrances, and attars. Rose Gulkand, Rosewater, and other rose-related goods are also available.

Scope of Floriculture

Commercial floriculture has a lot of potentials. Soil, climate, labor, transportation, and market are all essential elements in determining the extent of Commercial Floriculture. People are now realizing the importance of open space, parks, and gardens for relaxation, peace of mind, recreation, and unpolluted air as almost all large cities develop rapidly to accommodate this rapidly growing population, cement concrete, the jungle is also developing at the same rate, and thus people are now realizing the importance of open space, parks, and gardens for relaxation, peace of mind, recreation, and unpolluted air.

Thus, bio-aesthetic planning, which goes hand in hand with town planning, is required to address all of these issues. Therefore to meet out all these problems bio-aesthetic planning is essential, which runs hand in hand with town planning. In modem life floriculture garden in the country, yard is an integral part of modern life and thus ornamental plants have found a place in home gardening. 

In terms of flower trade, both cut flowers, and loose flowers, our state is doing extremely well since cut flowers are utilized for vase decoration and there is a craze for inside decoration these days. Loose flowers are mostly utilized in the fabrication of Gujarat, Veni, garland, and bouquets, and hence there is an endless supply of flowers for these uses.

Thus, taking into account various factors such as bio-aesthetic planning, floral gardens, indoor decoration, social functions, and religious functions, the demand for floricultural plants is steadily increasing, and there is a good opportunity for growing and raising Ornamental or Floricultural plants to meet this demand. When it comes to the flower trade, cut flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums, gladiolus, and tuberose are in high demand. While loose flowers include Aster, Gaillardia, Marigold, Chrysanthemum, Jasmines, and Tager Nerium.

  • Perishability is reduced through post-harvest innovation for superior packing and low-cost storage.
