Department of Veterinary Pathology conducts e-training on Diagnostic Cytology

Diagnostic Cyto-pathology

Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary Science of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, organized five days e-training on “Diagnostic Cyto-pathology”.

The training was held with the support of National Agricultural Higher Education Project-Institutional Development Plan (NAHEP-IDP) and its aim was to decipher the knowledge of cyto-pathology to Veterinary Pathologists throughout India so that they can hone their skills and contribute in diagnosing various inflammatory and tumorous conditions.

41 Veterinary Pathologists from all over of India participated in the training. The trainees were apprised about the different aspects of diagnostic cytopathology. The training comprised of lectures on sample collection, examination of body fluids, and cytological examination of body cells for diagnosis of inflammatory, non-inflammatory and tumors conditions like discreet cell tumors, epithelial cell tumors and mesenchymal tumors. The cellular components of urine for diagnosis of various inflammatory conditions were also studied.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GADVASU congratulated the organizing team and emphasized that capacity building in diagnosis of diseases is the need of the hour for preserving precious animal health. Dr Singh praised the efforts of the department which is also nominated as centre of advanced faculty training by ICAR at the national level. Dr  S P S Ghuman, PI-IDP & Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences congratulated and lauded the faculty of the department for their role in disease diagnosis in centralized Clinical Diagnostic laboratory  of the University and in performing post-mortem examination of animals and poultry birds.

Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Head of the department informed that Department of Veterinary Pathology shall conduct five trainings in the coming weeks on various aspects of disease diagnosis.  Dr. Kuldip Gupta and Dr. N.D. Singh coordinators of the training said that the training provided fundamental aspects of diagnostic cytology which will go a long way in honing the skills of the pathologists.
