The industry chamber FICCI is hosting a two-day conference on agricultural start-ups beginning Thursday (6 January 2022), where industry leaders and policymakers are expected to address issues faced by these entities and help find solutions.

"The overall goal of the summit is to sensitize, motivate, and address the issues that agri start-ups face so that they can solve problems in Indian and global agriculture across the value chain," the Federation said in a statement.

Under the vision of the Agri Startup Task Force, FICCI thrives to “Develop India as a hub of Agri innovation by leveraging domestic and global opportunities, driving Industry - start-up partnership and enabling policy initiatives for adoption of innovations in the agriculture and allied sector”.

With so much potential in the Agriculture sector, these Agri start‐ups need to be suitably identified, supported and handheld, so as to mainstream them for the long run.

Due to the enormous potential in the farm sector, these start-ups must be appropriately identified, supported, and handled in order to be mainstreamed in the long run, according to FICCI.

This year marks the fourth edition of the summit, which will recognize and award start-ups from various segments of the agricultural value chain for their contributions to bringing sustainable and innovative solutions. PwC is the initiative's knowledge partner.

The program will include sessions on India-Australia collaboration on precision technologies, India-Israel collaboration on climate-smart technologies, India-Netherlands collaboration on horticulture through digital interventions, and India-Germany collaboration on sustainability.

The programme will feature:

  • Release of FICCI PwC knowledge Report on Agri Startup ecosystem

  • Country and Theme Focus international plenary sessions

  • Award ceremony- FICCI Agri Startup Awards and Special session with Government of India
