Good News! CM Gehlot to Provide Rs 158.96 Crore and Other Subsidies to Help Farmers

According to an official release, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved many financial proposals for the benefit of small and marginal farmers on Saturday.

Gehlot approved a proposal to provide Rs 158.96 crore to farmers for the construction of poly houses, shade net houses, tunnels, and plastic mulching under the Rajasthan Protected Farming Mission, according to the release.

Shade nets and greenhouses will receive a minimum 85 percent subsidy, while mulching and tunnel will receive a minimum 50 percent subsidy, according to the proposal.

Under the Rajasthan Crop Protection Scheme, Gehlot also granted a payment of Rs 125 crore to farmers for the installation of 1.25 crore meters of fencing over the next two years.

The state government would cover 50% of the cost of fencing up to 400 meters or a maximum of Rs 40,000 provided the farmer has a minimum of 1.5 hectares of agricultural land, according to the scheme's provisions.

In the financial year 2022-23, the chief minister accepted a proposal to grant Rs 15.05 crore for the development of low-cost onion storage facilities for 2,500 farmers in the state, according to the report.

The cost of building these structures is anticipated to be Rs 1.75 lakh per unit. Farmers would receive a 50% subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 87,500 in this scheme.

Recently, it was also announced that the revenue officials from Rajasthan will be trained for the PM’s crop insurance scheme. The state administration has also devised a strategy for training revenue officials operating in communities to use a specially designed mobile phone app to track crop harvesting. The revenue officials' tracking will guarantee that the disbursement of the claim amount to the farmers is not delayed.

The government in Rajasthan has changed its focus to take maximum advantage of the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme after presenting a separate agricultural budget with an allocation of 5,000 crores for Krishak Sathi Yojana this year.
