Good News! Farmers Will Now Get Enough Power Supply to Irrigate Crops

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated during a review meeting of the Energy Department that despite the blazing heat in the state, electricity supply remained normal. In order to meet demand in June and July, the state now has enough power.

The Chief Minister stated that crop irrigation work is now underway in various regions across the state. He urged the officials to secure an appropriate supply of electricity to the farmers so that the crops receive enough water, keeping in mind the necessity for irrigation.

The CM further stated that over 1.25 lakh farmers and domestic electricity consumers have benefited from various government schemes, with the State Government providing subsidies of Rs 1,044 crore. Electricity bills for around 43 lakh people have now been reduced.

He stated that a subsidy of Rs 291.54 crore was given to over 12.66 lakh farmers on agricultural electricity connections under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Mitra Yojana, which was set up to provide financial relief to farmers.

A subsidy of Rs 752.58 crore has been awarded under the Chief Minister's Household Electricity Grant Scheme to provide relief in electricity bills to more than 1.15 crore household consumers in the state.

In another instance, Gehlot approved a proposal to provide Rs 158.96 crore to farmers for the construction of poly houses, shade net houses, tunnels, and plastic mulching under the Rajasthan Protected Farming Mission.

Under the Rajasthan Crop Protection Scheme, Gehlot also granted a payment of Rs 125 crore to farmers for the installation of 1.25 crore meters of fencing over the next two years.

The state government would cover 50% of the cost of fencing up to 400 meters or a maximum of Rs 40,000 provided the farmer has a minimum of 1.5 hectares of agricultural land, according to the scheme's provisions.

In the financial year 2022-23, the chief minister accepted a proposal to grant Rs 15.05 crore for the development of low-cost onion storage facilities for 2,500 farmers in the state.
