Government Aims at Increasing Purchasing Power & Improving Financial Status of Farmers

According to Jai Prakash Dalal, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Fisheries, and Law & Legislative, Government of Haryana, the state is prepared to help the farmers in any form they require so that the agriculture industry prospers.

"In Haryana, we have carried out innovations and are identifying each household to help farmers improve their financial status based on their skills," Dalal said in his address to the "11th Agrochemicals Conference 2022 - Policy Landscape for a Flourishing Agrochemicals Industry," which was organized by FICCI with the support of the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals and Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Dalal emphasized the misuse of fertilizers and chemicals in farming, saying, "The average usage of fertilizers and chemicals in Punjab & Haryana is far higher than the rest of the country. Over the permitted limit, producers are using additional chemicals. He also encouraged the sector to step up and train and educate farmers about the proper dosage of fertilizers used in farming.

Adding that the country will progress as the farmer progresses, the Minister stated, “Our aim is to increase the purchasing power of farmers and improve their financial status.” He added that the state will soon roll out a scheme to train the unemployed youth to operate drones for agriculture purposes.

"The agrochemical business plays a key role in enhancing agricultural land by preventing losses due to pests," stated Susanta Kumar Purohit, Joint Secretary (Chemicals), Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Government of India. “The use of agrochemicals in huge amounts while complying to international standards for residue levels required for agricultural exports will play an important role in increasing productivity.”

“In addition, the agrochemical sector has the ability to directly contribute to the growth of the economy while becoming into a centre for the manufacture and export of agro-chemicals globally," he said.

Amber Dubey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, highlighted the growing use of drones in agriculture and stated, "We are excited about the drone sector and we have to assist this industry since the ultimate advantage of this rests with consumers. On the Digital Sky platform, a list of every drone and its UIN is available. A type certificate is also given to drone systems.”

“The necessity of the hour is to embrace drone technology. A drone is as crucial technology as the mobile phone was at its birth,” said Dubey.
