Jharkhand CM Promises Cold Storages for Farmers in Every District

In order to help farmers preserve their produce for a longer time, Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren said on Wednesday that his administration planned to put in place a network of cold storage facilities in each district. 

According to reports, the government also intends to build up farmers' markets where they can sell their produce.

Soren said, "Through Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, Didi Badi Yojana, and Nilamber Pitamber Yojana, a new wave of development has been floated in the state," while speaking at a function at BS College Ground in Lohardaga where Birsa Harit Gram Yojana beneficiaries from Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Latehar, and Khunti districts were present. Additionally, we want to expand the Birsa Harit Yojana's reach so that farmers can benefit from it on up to 50 acres instead of the current 1 acre maximum.

"Our officials are visiting every district to check whether or not farmers are receiving the advantages of government initiatives," he continued.

Recently, the Jharkhand Government also unveiled its “Ambitious Solar Energy Policy 2022”. An ambitious new solar policy on July 5 in an effort to raise clean energy capacity from 45 MW to 4,000 MW over the course of the following five years and draw in investors.

The new policy would promote rooftop solar panels for residences in urban areas in addition to creating a better environment for larger plants. People with an annual income of less than Rs 3 lakh may be eligible for a subsidy of up to 80% of the overall installation cost.

Due to a land dispute or problems with incentives, previous attempts by the state government in 2015, 2020, and 2018 did not significantly affect the planned investment. Learning from past mistakes, the Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA) has teamed up this time with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), a non-profit policy research institute, to draft a new policy that aims to generate 4,000 MW of solar energy over the course of the next five years.
