Maharashtra Approves Rs.28.5 crore for Irrigation Schemes in Yeola
The state government has sanctioned Rs.28.15 crore funds for Devna and 20 other water storage and irrigation schemes through Maharashtra Water Conservation Department in Yeola taluka.
The Maharashtra government has approved Rs.28.15 crore for Devna and 20 other water storage and irrigation schemes in Yeola taluka through Maharashtra Water Conservation Department.
Devna Storage Lake is located in the catchment region of the Manikpunj Medium Project, at the confluence of two large nallas near Kharwandi and Devdari villages in the Yeola taluka.
The storage tank, which will be built across the district boundaries of Nashik and Aurangabad, would require 57 hectares of land, 44 hectares from the talukas of Yeola (Nashik) and 13 hectares from the talukas of Vaijapur (Aurangabad). There is up to 55 hectares of forest land and 1.25 hectares will be acquired from the owners.
The tank that will store 73.44 million cubic feet of water for irrigation and drinking purpose will cost Rs.15.65 crore. After the water availability certificate, the project received administrative approval, but due to the constraint of funds owing to the Covid, the government sanction for the funds was awaited, which has now been given. The work is expected to begin in the next six months.
Start Power Supply Work Right Away: Bhujbal
Chhagan Bhujbal, the state minister for food and civil supplies, consumer protection, and district guardian minister, has directed the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to begin work on rural power supply projects immediately.
Bhujbal, who assessed the situation of power supply and infrastructure, sought details on the MSEDCL's plans following their meeting with energy minister Nitin Raut, who urged the MSEDCL to ensure correction of bills and starting works related to the infrastructure financed by the district planning committee as soon as possible.
Bhujbal also directed officials to begin construction on at least four substations that were sanctioned in rural regions, including Yeola taluka. He also directed that work on renovating and replacing the power company's old infrastructure in the taluka at the earliest.
