Major Reshuffle in Modi’s Cabinet: List of New Ministers in Agriculture and Allied Sectors

On July 7 2021, there was a major reshuffle of the union cabinet. A number of key portfolios like Health, law, information agriculture and fisheries got changed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers.

On July 7 2021, there was a major reshuffle of the union cabinet. A number of key portfolios like Health, law, information agriculture and fisheries got changed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers.

In this article, you can find the list of new ministers who are associated with Agriculture and allied sectors. 

Shobha Karandlaje (Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare)

She was the lok sabha MP from Udupi- Chikkamangluru constituency in Karnataka. She has always been vocal about the contemporary issues. In 2019, she won the Lok sabha election with a huge margin of 3.49 lakh votes which is the biggest margin for a woman candidate from Karnataka. She holds a post graduation in social work (MSW) and sociology (MA). 

Bhupendra Yadav (Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate change and Minister of labor & employment)

Originally from Rajasthan and lawyer by profession, Mr. Yadav was associated with the Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad, a lawyers’ body affiliated to the RSS and advanced through his own efforts.  Before beginning his political career, he was an advocate in the Supreme Court and also served as government counsel for important commissions. 

Purushottam Rupala (Minister of Fisheries, Animal husbandry and Dairying)

 He had been serving as MoS for Panchayati Raj, Agriculture and farmers’ welfare and now elevated to the new portfolio. He served 3 consecutive terms as a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Amreli and formerly served as a minister in Government of Gujarat. Before entering politics, he served as a school principal from 1977 to 1983. 

Murugan (MoS for fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Information and Broadcasting)

He is a lawyer and former Vice- Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes; he was the second Dalit to hold the post after S.P. Kirubanidhi.

Pashupati Kumar Paras (Minister of Food processing Industries)

He is an Indian Politician from the state of Bihar and Minister of Food Processing Industry in the Union cabinet. He has been a member of Bihar legislative Assembly seven times in Alauli since 1977. He has also served thrice as a minister in the state.

Bhagwant Khuba (MoS New & Renewable Energy and Chemicals & Fertilizers)

His rise in politics began as his influence in his area grew steadily after he won the 2014 Lok Sabha polls for BJP. He is a graduate in mechanical engineering and before entering politics, he pursued his family business.
