MGNREGA Workers to Collect Crop Residue Says Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Dhaliwal appealed to the farmers not to burn stubble in the fields, saying that harmful practices not only cause pollution but also decreased the health of the soil. The state government is making every effort to stop the burning of crop residue and farmers should extend a helping hand.

He said that by allowing the crop residue to decompose, the soil's fertility would increase and farmers would use fewer chemical fertilizers. According to him, the government has plans to use MGNREGA workers to help farmers in managing residue.

The session, according to Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jatinder Singh Gill and Joint Director of Agriculture Daljit Singh, was designed to give farmers technical knowledge about the crop for the following season. According to Dr. Gill's predictions, wheat will be seeded on 1.88 lakh hectares, and as a result, preparations were being made for the necessary fertilizers, particularly diammonium phosphate (DAP).

He instructed the farmers to plant improved disease-resistant varieties of wheat. The department officials urged farmers to plant wheat with a happy seeder and super seeder equipment so that they wouldn't have to burn crop residue and could save money by using fewer plowing machines.

On this occasion, experts from the fields of Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Dairying, Land Conservation Department, etc were also present.
