Nitin Gadkari to Launch Country’s First CNG Tractor on 12 February

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari will launch India’s first-ever diesel Tractor, converted to CNG tomorrow i.e. 12 Feb 2021.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari will launch India’s first-ever diesel Tractor, converted to CNG tomorrow i.e. 12 Feb 2021. The conversion that is carried out jointly by Rawmatt Techno Solutions and Tomasetto Achille India would help farmers double their income, by reducing costs, and help in creating job opportunities in rural India.

Union Ministers Union Ministers, Narendra Singh Tomar, Parshottam Rupala, Dharmendra Pradhan and Gen.(Retd) VK Singh will also be present during the launch.

In addition, farmers will be to save more than 1 lakh rupees yearly on fuel costs that will help them to improve their livelihood. 

Benefits of conversion to CNG    

  • It is a clean fuel as it contains lowest content of carbon & other pollutants.

  • It is cheap, as it has zero lead and is non-corrosive, non-dilutive & non-contaminating that helps in increasing the life of the engine. It also requires less regular maintenance.

  • It is economical as CNG prices are far more consistent than fluctuating Petrol prices. In addition the average mileage of CNG vehicles is better than Diesel or Petrol vehicles.

  • It is very safe as the CNG tanks come with a tight seal that reduces the possibility of explosion while refueling.

  • It is the Future as currently around 12 million vehicles are already powered by natural gas all over the world and more companies and municipalities are joining the CNG movement every day.

  • It is part of waste to wealth as stubble can be used as a raw material for generating Bio-CNG that will help farmers earn money by selling it to the Bio-CNG production units.

Now talking about more specific advantages of converting the Tractor to CNG for a farmer includes;  

  • The test reports show that the retrofitted tractor produces more power/equal as compared to Diesel-run engine.

  • Overall emissions is reduced by 70 percent as compared to Diesel.

  • Help farmers to save up to 50 percent on the fuel cost as the present Diesel prices are Rs.77.43 per Litre whereas CNG is only Rs.42 per kg.
