The Yogi Adityanath government intends to turn farmers in Uttar Pradesh into 'entrepreneurs' in order to increase their income. This would not only enhance their income, but it will also open up additional job prospects for them.

The government plans to build 375 major food processing facilities with the support of the state government's Food Processing Industries Policy 2017 (revised). In addition, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme, 41,336 food processing units would be constructed or modernised.

The government assists farmers who want to participate in the food processing industry via this programme. The Yogi government has set a goal of providing at least one job opportunity to every household in the next five years, in addition to concentrating on raising farmer income.

The government wants farmers to earn a high price for their crops by linking them to the industry. As a consequence, crop damage will be reduced, and the product will be offered at a reasonable price.

In addition, the government intends to train 2,10,000 entrepreneurs and farmers during the next five years.

In another instance, the UP government made a record payment of Rs 1.71 lakh crore to sugarcane farmers. Sugarcane is the state's most important cash crop. Sugarcane cultivation employs approximately 65 lakh people in the state. According to the release, the Yogi-led government has always prioritized the payment of cane prices to state farmers.

From 2017 to April 2022, over 45.74 lakh sugarcane farmers in UP received a record cane price payment of more than Rs 1,70,938.95 crore, indicating the government's pro-farmer stance. The payment is more than three times that of the previous governments.

Sugar mills that had been closed by previous governments were reopened by the Yogi Adityanath government, and the state now ranks first in the country in sugar production.
