PM Kisan: 4.7 Lakh Farmers Haven’t Received Benefits of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi yojana

According to a study by Libtech India, a research company, 4.7 lakh farmers in Telangana have not gotten either partial or full benefits under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. 

The Central government is providing Rs 6,000 yearly benefits to qualified farmers in 3 instalments under the plan, which is modelled after the Telangana government's Rythu Bandhu scheme. Since January 1, the payout has started with the tenth installment. While the transfer is expected to be completed by the end of February, Libtech India's data mining has revealed that a huge percentage of qualified farmers have not received either full or partial payments since the plan began in February 2019. 

A total of 39,34,691 farmers in the state have enrolled for the scheme, with a total entitlement of Rs 6,558 crore. Farmers have received and paid an estimated Rs 6,165 crore of the total compensation. 

Technical Considerations 

However, due to technological difficulties, the study group's data crawling efforts were unable to locate information on nearly 95,000 farmers on the internet. As a result, the data for the remaining 38,39,545 farmers was proportionately applied to the 95,000 missing farmers to arrive at the anticipated figures, according to members of the study group. 

According to the information provided, the 4.7 lakh underprivileged farmers received a total of Rs 393 crore. Over the last nine payments, the average sum not received by farmers has been Rs 8,360 per head. Official disinterest in guaranteeing bank account connectivity, according to Chakradhar Buddha, spokesman of Libtech India. 

"Payment is based on bank account or Aadhaar data, and due to the preceding presence of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the majority of farmers are linked through bank accounts exclusively, the details of which are compiled and submitted by the Agriculture Department." Several farmers are missing out on the benefit due to minor inconsistencies in account data or inactive/frozen accounts, according to Chakradhar. 

According to the study, 3 lakh farmers have been harmed as a result of bank account rejections and other complications. Seventy thousand additional farmers were refused access to the programme due to ineligibility, and 60,000 due to "state-mandated action." Aadhaar numbers have not been confirmed for 40,000 additional farmers. 

"Officials did not know the details of the farmers who were turned down. "A huge number of farmers who have suffered rejection owing to faulty bank data and Aadhaar details will benefit if they take interest and guarantee that account seeding is correctly done," Chakradhar added.
