PM Kisan Big Update: 21 Lakh Farmers Found Ineligible During Probe; Next Installment Could be Delayed

The government said that the money paid to these ineligible farmers so far under the scheme will be recovered from them as early as possible.

At a time when crores of farmers in the country are eagerly waiting for the government to release the next installment of its most successful scheme ‘PM Kisan Yojana’, an investigation has revealed that 21 lakh farmers are not ineligible for it.

Agriculture Minister of Uttar Pradesh Surya Pratap Shahi on Wednesday informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, 21 lakh farmers selected in Uttar Pradesh have been found ineligible during a probe.

He said that the amount paid to these ineligible farmers so far under the scheme will be recovered from them as early as possible.

Shahi while talking to reporters said that around 2.85 crore farmers were registered under the Central government’s PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme in Uttar Pradesh, out of which 21 lakh beneficiaries have been found to be ineligible.

The minister said that a number of cases were found wherein both husband and wife got the benefit of PM Kisan scheme, adding that the process of recovery of money from the ineligible farmers has been started.

Shahi informed that the next or 12th installment of PM Kisan will be released by the end of this month by PM Modi and only those farmers whose land records & on-site verification work are completed on the PM-Kisan website will be given the benefit of the scheme.

Devesh Chaturvedi, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture said that the process of uploading data on the official website is being done on a war footing and the upcoming installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will be given to eligible farmers only.

So far, the work of loading the land records of over 1.50 crore farmers has been done on the website, Agriculture Minister added. He urged the farmers to complete and upload their data to the portal as early as possible so that they do not miss the next installment.
